Questions we get asked
Do we need an MES before this is worth doing?
No, and most plants we work with do not have one. Anything with an export is a source: a counter CSV, a spreadsheet a shift lead fills in, a scale writing to a folder, a WhatsApp message. You get a reliable daily report years before an MES project would finish.
How accurate is the data if people still enter part of it?
More accurate than the spreadsheet it replaces, because it gets checked. Reported output is reconciled against ERP inventory movements the same day, so a keying error surfaces in hours instead of at stocktake. Anything the system is unsure about goes to a review queue rather than into the report.
Will it replace our production supervisors?
It replaces the 30 to 90 minutes a shift they spend assembling and formatting a report. Deciding why line 2 keeps stopping, or whether to run the changeover tonight, is what you actually pay them for, and the report should make that faster.
